Our competition team, formally known as Fat Angel BBQ, was created in 2007 when two boys from Jersey decided to spin off from their former team, Lost Nation Smoke Company. After years of working as apprentices with Rich Decker, they decided that they were ready for the major league.
We are a competition barbecue team specializing in the art of smoking chicken, pork ribs, pork shoulder and beef brisket. We've represented New Jersey at contests all over the country including Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia and in almost every state from DC to Vermont. We have collected over 100 awards including 3 NJ State Championship titles. Highlights include 1st place in Ribs against 488 teams at the American Royal BBQ contest in Kansas City (which is known as the World Series of BBQ) and 1st place in Brisket at the National BBQ Festival in Douglas, GA.

10.28.11 - What an unbelievable weekend in Lynchburg, TN. We finished 41st against 90 of the top teams in the world! Our best BBQ category finish was our Pork which finished 23rd. A big thank you and congrats goes out to Ali Keating who prepared an incredible Nutella Mug Cake for the dessert category and finished 7th overall!!!!!! It was amazing to see her on stage after hearing our name called! Congrats to all the teams that were fortunate enough to make the walk to the stage at "The Jack" .
